The Writers Room is designed as a brainstorming discussion for us to talk about the story ideas that could energize The Matrix franchise. My ideas push the limit, a bit, but what do you think? What could they do to keep the franchise feeling fresh and new? Let me know in the comments!
Thanks so much! I thought it would open up a lot of new ideas that could be explored. A bold move, taken with confidence, would carry The Matrix for another couple of films, I'm sure. Thanks for your note. I'm really glad you liked the idea. 🙂
❤🔥 Your comment made my day. I'll let you know if they call me. I'm sitting right here with my cell phone Warner Bros! 😉 @Quietpart, it's funny how much I actually love running running creative workshops. I think it's why I love talking with you guys about movies. (fixed a typo! ugh.) Thanks for the comment.
Where I wanted them to go with the sequels is for the characters to ultimately realize that the Matrix was not created by sentient machines, rather it was created on purpose by humans. Just as the original movie was culturally relevant in 1999, we now live in a world where our connection to digital worlds has become ubiquitous, our identities are increasingly connected to a digital-social presence, and technologies such as VR and AI are ever more compelling. We are already in a Matrix of sorts, but we did it to ourselves. We can't look away from all the screens. If you extend this narrative into the future, one can imagine the vast majority of humanity literally existing inside of virtual worlds that were made possible by AI deliberately programmed to maximize dopamine delivery and manufacture a sense of purpose and social validation - all the things we are programmed by nature to seek. ... Instead, we just got a lot more guns and robots and techno music.
Yeah, I would love to have that come out as well. The Matrix was clearly created by humans.... so maybe we could go back in time to the first iterations of the Matrix when the real world and the Matrix were still in some kind of alignment. We could find out why it was made, see it get made, and see it... go wrong... That's such an interesting take! I love it, and I wish I had put it in my video. Great job!!! Great comment!!!
Thank You! My idea would be along the lines of the humans developing a software attack that would sever the ability to supply the System with energy. All would remain intact, the software would just alter the System's ability to transfer the power from point A to point B.
Yeah. That's a great idea. He who controls the power controls the world.... Some kind of hack to force the Machines to deal fairly with the humans AND something that would force them to take good care of the humans in their custody who choose to remain in the Matrix would be an interesting story line. I think one big concern that the humans need to consider is that they can't really take down the Machines or stop them without risking the lives of all of those people in pods. If those people were suddenly ejected from the system, they would likely die, starve, etc. So, the humans are hampered by their humanity. It's our biggest flaw in this situation, and it's the one thing that Machines can use against us.
I always had the idea that the real truth is that the matrix was created by humanity as a ark until the earth could recover and The One was created to make sure humanity would not corrupt the system and create a crisis. The machines hidden purpose was to protect humanity from itself and play the role of the antagonist. But that is just my own interpetation.
That's actually a great hidden truth that could be exposed. It also raises some good questions about renewable energy sources because there have got to be less resource intensive energy options than storing human bodies to generate power. So why do they store the humans? Is it an early directive like you suggest? Maybe the machines have since realized that the planet will never recover and now they are stuck taking care of humans (it could explain why they are so angry with humans) ... or maybe they have realized that they need the human imagination to keep the Matrix intact. Your comment inspires so many good ideas!
@@ErinUnderwoodSo many plot elements also could be introduced as well to add depth to the mysterious Architect and the complexities of the previous versions of the Matrix
I can't stop laughing!!! Yes. Of course, this is true!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 The other thing that makes me pause is, why would they need humans to power their machines when they could easily turn to renewable energy. The amount of energy required to run an AI system the size of the Matrix is INSANE! ... and nobody talks about that little issue. That would actually be a fantastic and compelling idea to pursue in a story. What do you do when your energy source isn't enough to power your system and you need to make a big change? What do you do with all of those human bodies? ....and how would the humans on the outside react to the knowledge that a new power system is being implemented? I actually like that idea a lot because it is relevant to issues that we are facing today. You totally get the gold star for best comment today!
To me, it doesn't sound like you understood the films. The machines created Neo. Neo is the 6th intergral anamoly, the amalgamation of all the doubts about reality that the machines take and implant into one person. That one person becomes to the new ONE. And the Orcale starts her false religion with the men that espcape the Matrix simulation. But the Anomaly is is made to return to the source code, so that the next Matrix can be made more convincing. During which Zion will be destoyed and a select few will be chosen to repopulate a new zion and the next iteration of the Matirx will be started again. The Architecht makes this clear in his monalogue. Neo is only unique in that he chose not to return to the source as the other 6 ONES before him did. He took the risk to save Trinity. The whole prophecy of the one was a lie of the Oracle as a means of controlling mankind, managing those who escape and using their desire for freedom against them, and bringing forth and maturing the next integral anamoly as a means of making better and better Maticies. When Neo "woke up" at the end of the first movie and realized he is "the one", he was as fast asleep as he was prior. in the real world, not in the movie, there are contrived false awakenings set up by Satan to make people think they are free when they are fast asleep. That is why it is written, The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge and even in another place, IS wisdom. Why? Because God is so pwerful and all knowing that he has full power to both give and hide information; you are completely at his mercy as to what you are even able to understand. And so to fear him and his word, and seek him, there is understanding possible of anything, for he giveth liberally to all that ask him. But to think yourself as free as Neo did when he sees the code in the Matrix is no awakening at all, it is a contrived path set up by his enemies to make the illusion ultimately more convincing all while giving people false hope. The Matrix universe is a world without God, and so it is a world without any true hope. So the films try and convey that you should try and be your own god, but that ultimately you cannot escape the illusions set up before you, becasue Satan, whom the bible calls as the god of this present world, will always be more powerful than you, and will always be many steps a head of you. A man needs a supernatural power beyond that of Satan and against him inoreder to wake up. And that can only come from God, even the Lord Jesus Christ. The Matrix films were made by a bunch of Gnostic Devil worshipping perverts. They are not there to take advice from, but they often will drop crumbs about what they are doing in the world. For the Matrix, the movie's creators, are more likened to the machines than the redpills. They are the ones knowingly casting the illusions over people, giving them the red pill, in type, as the Matrix films, but just like IN the films, the red pill makes one only wake up to another realm of the prison. The movies aside. There is only one way out of here alive, and that is the Lord Jesus Christ of nazareth, even that very one written of at length in the King James Bible, which is the perfect written words of God without error. He only can save you because he only made all this. He has all power in heaven and earth. You wil not find him in church buildings or corrupted bibles from the masons and Vatican, only the King James Bible. He gave man his words and made it the most printed, yet most hated, yet most stolen from book of all time. It is the greates book that has ever been on the earth. The Matrix is not a tale of freedom, it is a tale of false hopes in a world without hope, and one that pushes Satanism as your only hope at life, which is vain to say the least. It steals from the Bible, but not to teach what the word of God teaches, but to pervert it and references thigs within it to try and steal from its authority in the perverted story they are trying to tell in the movies. The Gospel and hoe to be saved: 1 Corinthians 15:1-8 KJV Romans 10:2-13 KJV Proverbs 30:4-6 KJV John 14:6 KJV John 14:22-24 KJV John 17:17 KJV Psalms 12:6-7 KJV
Hmmmm.... but that does get to the core of my argument. Neo is at his core, human, even if there are elements of machine programming within him that give him extra abilities within the system. It's the human nature that has made him different, has made him into something the Machines couldn't plan for or anticipate. The machines need someone like Neo to keep the humans in place, but statistically speaking, the machines will always fail to anticipate the human influence within the One because they do not understand humanity. That means that inevitably there will always be someone like Neo, at some point, who emerges to break the system. If the machines truly want to keep people in place, all they really have to do is make the real world so horrendous and their existence in it so painful and awful that humans would choose the Matrix no matter what. The easiest way to make a future Neo irrelevant is to change the human body, show the people what they "are" and that they can't actually survive outside of the Matrix, and then invite them to make the choice....with leaving the Matrix being the equivalent of entering the human body recycling plant to make room for new humans. I do get all of that and the religious elements, too. When I am getting at with this discussion is that the series is pretty much at a dead end now. They can't make more movies without making them stale and repetitive until the Machines change the rules of the game.... so, I am just trying to imagine how they could change those rules and what the future might hold for them.

A storyline like that could easily carry a trilogy or duology all on its own! Brillant work!

The main reason that the Matrix machines will lose is because the human battery idea wouldn't work
